The way Drupal have been handling css styles up until recently have been to say it nice "Problematic" Theres been a lot of unessasey barries for new & experienced frontend developers alike, fiddeling with the css files can even caused functionality to break.
Now in D7 theres a hidden gem in the very core that needs to some spotlight on it: the filenaming rules of drupals css files.

Fieldset & Legend Behave!

The fieldset-legend tag is a legendary (rimshot) problem for webdesigners.
Its just that its a major pain in the ass to work with - the good thing about it is that it at least make sence for the usability nerds. But for a designer its a royale pain in the ass to look as you want it -unless you think that the outta the box fieldset-legend combination looks awesome.

Getting my theme stuff together once and for all

Now 2 days after the Drupalcamp in Cologne (which was "fielspass" <- see i kinda learned some german), I sat down and took a hard look at my old custom basetheme and thought about:
* Should get on the bandwagon of grid based css frameworks?
* getting accessibility done right -ya know title & content in top of the page menus in the buttom
* make sure that i can use this for any design a client comes with (both grid and nongrid designs)
* .. and clean up the last bit of crap that was floating around.
* and how can I give stuff back to the people!

Accessability

Today Im gonna look on how to control the width of an element and how you dont get confused (and angry) over the padding + border + foo + margin + width + foo + whatever ... aaargh giiive me a break goddammit i command you div be 300px wide no more no less!

geekmass #2: bare bones css

As a followup from yesterdays -"Just remove all the $styles and use you own" I guess it would be nice with a small replacement, that at least took some of the basic styles that every drupal site at some point enters. If you dont use an admin theme (or not a redirecting all the edit pages to that admin theme). You will need some of these classes, but i guess you figured that out?

The first one were gonna start out with is actually a really really (really) simple trick that took me a while to actually get the grip on, yup havent said I was intelligent, and yes it is really obvious, but sometimes you cant se the forrest for all the trees.

mörten:dk is now a bit more 2007 hip and much more drupal :)
well after 2 evenings (aka nights) to throw the stuff together, im kinda satisfied.

keep it simple -drupal!
No more 69 different views- templates and 4572421lines of template.php + panels stuff and all kinds of modules & hacks all around.
So this time i tried to set my mind right before i digged in (well actually i just read the notes i wrote on the flight home from oscms, about theming n stuff) -and it actually worked (WTF!).
As i see this drupal stuff its is a mind game man here you got all the opportunities to create what ever it is you want to, and suddently yout drowning in all kinds of code & drap - so keep it drupal simple

@danigrrl yup true and she is the source for it - but okay she don't touch my espresso machine so i guess its okay (almost) 1 hour 14 min ago
